Colin Caffell, sculpture
Colin Caffell is a sculptor and ceramicist producing original works of figurative sculpture in bronze, portraits, individual wheel thrown pottery (shown on a separate page) and sculpted ceramics. He originally trained in Ceramics and Three-Dimensional Design at Camberwell School of Art  and ran his own pottery in London for a number of years before moving into the less abstract world of figurative sculpture. Self taught as a sculptor, he has now come full-circle with many of the most recent, more contemporary sculpted works very much a synthesis of these two fields. Drawing frequently upon archetypal and mythological  themes, his sculptures are sensual, organic and often erotic. In the past he has exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), both at the Mall Galleries in London and at the Henley Festival, and more recently has been elected a full member of The Penwith Society of Artists in Cornwall. His design for a Memorial to Cornish Tin Mining was selected by the former mining community of St Just in a public ballot. The completed 7 foot figure now stands in its own memorial garden at the entrance to Geevor Mine, now a Mining World Heritage Museum in Pendeen. The garden was also designed by Caffell.
